The Story: Pertukaran Pemuda Antar Negara Tingkat Kota Bogor 2015

This year is a big year for me. I finally decided to take my chance as a Sundanese youth on the PPAN Bogor 2015. Before, I was always afraid of my loss in the competition because of the aesthetic and languages factors. But everything was changed since I found a recently crowned Puteri Indonesia 2015, Anindya Kusuma Putri as one of the PPAN Jateng delegation who went abroad for SSEAYP program in 2014. She is an inspiration for me. Her spirit in competition and international activities have influenced me to follow her path as a successor of the program!

To compete myself on this program, I was worrying myself on everything. I got well informed more about the program through their Twitter account (@pcmijabar) and their site in pcmijabar.org. From there, I was feeling excited when I see the list of countries where we can visit if we were chosen to be delegation. There were Australia Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP),  Indonesia Canada Youth Exchange Program (ICYEP), Indonesia China Youth Exchange Program (ICHYEP), Indonesia Korea Youth Exchange Program (IKYEP), Indonesia Malaysia Youth Exchange Program (IMYEP) and Ship of South East Asia and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP).

In January, I saw an announcement about their Open House on 14th February 2015, but I wasn't able to attend the event. Since then, I decided to look forward on their official account. But they were vacuumed and on maintenance for several weeks.

Then, the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) were published in their official Facebook Fanpage. They informed us that there were two types of test that candidates could join the selection. First was the regional test that candidates could ask to their city's department of youth and sports for the selection of the program and the second one is by registering online.

Well, I have planned to join those two types of test. I already past the regional test so that I won the second runner-up for that competition. It was held from 4th to 6th April 2015 in Wisma Kantor Pemuda dan Olahraga Kota Bogor. The test were written test about our region and city heritage and places, English test like a TOEFL ITP test (listening comprehension, structure and written expression, and reading comprehension), interview session, and aptitude test. The juries were the experts in their fields (culture, art, English lecturer). What they assess beside of those tests from us were about our attitude and also- I guess - appearance during the quarantine. The quarantine was also an important thing we learned beside of the materials given by the speakers. We could enlarge our friendship and share our ideas about everything during our free time in dormitory or even during the seminars! That was an enjoyable and relax quarantine I've ever had in my life. The Bureau of Youth and Sports of Bogor has welcomed us very well!

The 6th April 2015 was the announcement day. The first place was delivered to Deo Putra Muliawan from Mojang Jajaka Paguyuban, the second place was placed for Siti Khoerunnisa and the third place was luckily for me.  The winners receive the prize of money about Rp. 2.500.000 for the first winner, Rp. 1.500.000 for the second winner and Rp. 1.150.000 for me as the third winner. Beside that, the regulation from the center of the government told us that the two winners got a chance to represent the city to the provincial selection. So, unfortunately, as a third winner, I couldn't be able to represent my city. But the committee wanted me also to keep preparing myself for the Sundanese language skills and culture and to profound my regional knowledge, because once the first or the second winner couldn't or wouldn't go to the provincial selection, I will be recruited as a representative. So, I'm now an alternative candidate from Bogor.

But, to be an alternative or a stand-by-er won't let me to be careless of the competition. It's a challenge for me because the competition is about getting bigger, strict and high competitive. This one is a serious case that every youths in West Java would like to take part. What I learn from the speakers of PPAN Bogor 2015 would be my guidance to face the truly bigger-competitive PPAN JABAR. This region is well-known as the most competitive and receives the most multitalented applicants. So, brave your self!
