Cultural Diplomacy

When I was in high school, my Civic teacher, Pak Dadang and Pak Emat gave me so much lessons about International Relation. I remember when I was in the last year of my study, Pak Emat who was actively a civic teacher in another school told me about the attraction of every immigrants to move to another place or country. He told me that the increasing of immigrants to another country is caused by the culture, politic and growth economic of the country that immigrants wants to be a part. Also, another reason is to develop their self in another country. 

Since then, this is so important to be noted that the cultural diplomacy is really important to be developed for every countries in objectives to increasing tourist and immigrants. After 3 years of study in linguistic and culture, I agree about the importance of this kind of diplomacy. Every developed country already carries on this action. France's and US diplomacy for example, they placed their cultural center to represent their cultural activities and language. 

 

Indonesia as a country with its cultural wealth and traditions should follow and develop this kind of diplomacy. Culture could be our commodity to increase the growth of our GDP by increasing the advertisement of our touristic places and transforming the potential touristic place to the best quality of touristic places. Moreover, as a one of the 15 greatest countries who can survive from world crises, Indonesia should enlarge its diplomacy by gaining bilateral relation in culture. We can promote Indonesian culture by creating more tourism or cultural expo in other country. This actions have already held in cities such as Frankfurt, Beijing, Taipei, etc. Or, the government should give more opportunities for every Indonesian student to be in an exchange student. This could make everybody more interest to live our culture.
